| The city is swarmed with Motorycles.. (moped).. You could sit down having a beer in ur hand and enjoy the city's energy... I sat down at the Saigon Saigon bar with neat atmosphere perhaps have not changed since Vietnam war where all military men running after good times... Lots of bright red neon lights, A 40 years old Vietnamese lady worked at the bar came and wrote down on my arm with pen drew a heart with her name Rose inside it with "I love you" Then she ran around telling others about it.. It was funny... We do not have that in American, I personally think we are way uptight assholes in the States... All of my life in the States, waitress or bartenders kept their distance with too much boundaries amidst us. In here, it is all friendly and smiling that makes you really appreciate them. Last night, Bren, Jesse, Carsten (german backpackers that have been traveling with us since day 2) and I played UNO cards game in our bedroom.. Yes with drinking rules and of course I was winning all but lost once.. Poor them having to drink harder.. We went out barhopping and met backpackers that we crossed path together from Thailand or Laos. Yes we partied hard and got really drunk.. There was a group smoking weed in the bar while a Saigon policeman was standing right next to them minding his own business.. It is like if you can behave and handle it fine then it is all good.. I realized I have not seen any sirens or any bad situation.. No fighting, no bitchin around, or bad vibes since I got here... It must be something about Saigon.. Like I said There is no place like Saigon... More to come till then, | | |
| Hey from Hoi An, Vietnam.... It is so beautiful amazing town here.. Everything seem to be at ease here... We got here a couple days ago from Vientiane, Laos.. To get here, we have to take 24 hours crampy illegal bus... The bus was overloaded and dangerous ride through the mountains in the dark.. The street was very narrow.. The experience was harrowing and good.. I will not ever complain about any rides in the future because this bus ride was made in HELL... :) wondering why the heck did I said good experience?? Because I get to see how Laotians or Vietnamese managed to make the best out of the ride.. We were all tangled up like chickens in the small cages dealing annoying wind on the freeway. We had to bear the smelly sweaty touching others on the way to Vietnam.. Enough of this.. I will tell a story about it in person by ASL version... We will head south to Moi Ne, Vietnam... Beach village just about 3 hours from Ho Chi Minh City aka SAIGON.... If you have not recieved the invitation to take a look at pictures via Kodakgallery.com... Let me know so I could send you one as soon as I can... Take care till then Signing off from Hoi An, Vietnam | | |
| Hey from Laos... We went to Chiang Rai then to Huay Xia to get on Mekong River.. We went on the slow boat to Luang Prabang.. It was interesting experience.. The environment is so beautiful.. Literally untouched by outsider.. The river and villages are well preserved.. Loatian ( Laos people ) spare no explanation of lacking in many things... All of the kids are so cute.. We went to Pak Beng for a night. We got a room and went to eat... The village is so small.. Gallaudet Campus is a lot bigger than Pak Beng.. We ate and went to bed since we had a long day.. We were laying down and reading a book. To our surprise that the electricity went out at 10 30 pm. We asked around and learned that the whole village went out to save some power... So we were forced to go sleep... Luang Prabang is 2nd largest city in Laos, I believe.. We will be heading to Vientiane tomorrow...We really like Laos just because it is so different than anywhere in the world since the whole country only contain 5.9 million people... It is like a final frontier of authentic people... Our slowboat had a few stops to several villages. The kids were running toward to us and gave us some shows.. It was so funny.. I was told that just about in a decade, Laos will not be like this today due to Mekong River will be controlled by government of China so the village people will be deprived by lacking in fishes and other important things to meet their needs.. So, anyone of you who love to travel, GET BUSY.... I am done with this book.. It is amazing book... God bless Afghans... | | |

| Hey from Pai.... After we were done with trekking, we went back to Chiang Mai to en route to Laos for Mekong River.. But we ended up going to Pai, Thailand. It is in Northeastern Thailand.. It is very close by to Myanmar (Burma) country borderline..We decided to come here after getting so many positive comments so we came by Mini Van.. To get here from Chiang Mai about 3 hours, but the road was all muddy and dangerous trail got all of us spooked. The mini van driver really know what to do but it is something we would not do in the states by passing a slower vechile on our way up the mountain.... But it was all worth it when we got here.. We loved Pai so much... It is very down to earth hippie village... It makes every one of us smile and so relaxing.. We found a place.. Each of us get to sleep in a hut... A hut like this would cost fortune in the States. The atmosphere here is so pleasing to eye... .. | | |
